The sighting of the first stealth bomber, the F-117, on the platform of a truck in Califronia generated speculation among aviation experts in August 2019. Now, a video posted by Lockheed Martin revealed his final destination.

One of the main reasons why this event surprised was the fact that the F-117s were removed from the US Air Force service and that most of them are in a state of preservation while they are disassembled.

As reported by the aeronautical manufacturer, it is the 803 aircraft. It entered service in 1984 and carried out the largest number of combat missions of all the F-117s. Later they decided to donate this aircraft to the Ronald Reagan library in California, where it will be exhibited next to the F-14 fighter.

The video published by Lockheed Martin shows the process of preparing the F-117 for his new civil life. In the images you can see the transport of the assembly and the painting of the plane so that it is a faithful representation of its appearance while still carrying out combat missions.

Although these tactical bombers were removed from service, sightings of the F-117 flying over the Nevada desert are not as rare as one would expect. Aviation experts point out that this is probably done with the objective of conducting studies on stealth technologies. The F-117 is a good platform for this.
