Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of Chile on Friday, two weeks after the start of protests that have already left at least 20 dead, to show that discontent with social inequality is still alive.

Citizenship turned to Santiago, as well as in other cities such as Valparaiso, Concepción or Punta Arenas. In the capital people began to accumulate during the afternoon in Plaza Italia.

The initiative was convened by social media with the slogan 'The biggest march of all' and was intended to replicate last Friday's march, when 1.2 million people crowded into the central capital square.

This Friday's march has not become as massive as that, but it has become very crowded. At about 19:30 official sources of the Intendency numbered 20,000 people, which was heavily criticized by the citizens, who believe that there were many more people.

The protesters are calling for improvements in the pension system, health and education, as well as a reduction in the prices of transport, electricity or consumer goods.

Demands that have concentrated the demands during these 14 days and to which the petition for the resignation of President Sebastián Piñera has been added, who despite announcing a social agenda and dismissing eight ministers still does not convince the public.

Since the National Institute for Human Rights (INDH), 4,271 detainees have been arrested across the country and 1,305 civilians injured, 755 by gunfire (perels, rubber balls, bullets or unidentified weapon), as well as acts of sexual torture during arrests, beatings, abuses and unlawful arrests.
