Destrozos en Santiago.
The lack of presence of law enforcement officers during the riots caused fear in the inhabitants of many outlying areas of Santiago.

"I have engraved the image of my son with a stick trying to defend my house. This was chaos, a war without authority".

Ema Sepúlveda, 43, stands next to her son Joaquin, 19, in the front yard of her house. Around it, there is only cement, some dumps and dust.

This small space is located in the villa Eucaliptus, one of the many towns that make up the commune of La Pintana, in Santiago, Chile.

This is one of the poorest areas that exist in the South American country. Here, the law of the strongest governs, of which he has more weapons to defend his territory.

Health and education are precarious, and people who have jobs receive miserable salaries.
