The Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA) realized the high
demand for Argentine meat by Asian importers and the “very good prices” that
are negotiated in the second edition of the China International Import Expo in
which some 2,500 exhibitors from 130 countries present their products to more
than 150,000 Chinese importers.
As part of this great event, the IPCVA participates
together with 20 Argentine exporting companies.
“We are making the Chinese people fall in love with Argentine
meat even though they did not know us until recently. We did a lot but there is still a lot to do”, said
Ulises Forte, president of the institute.
In the participation, the IPCVA developed the classic
“Argentine Beef” pavilion, with more than 350 square meters in the food and
agriculture sector, with a restaurant for tasting meat, individual boxes for
companies and a meeting room.
"We
are very excited about this fair because, unlike other markets that have
depressed prices, the values in China continue to improve", added Jorge
Torelli, vice president of the Institute and representative of the
refrigeration industry.
In this context, the growing demand from China, driven
years ago by the country's economic growth, and triggered this 2019 by African swine
fever that generated a huge deficit of animal protein, has no ceiling, neither
in volume nor in prices, of according to what is being lived in the China
International Import Expo in Shanghai, they pointed out from the IPCVA.
The companies that accompany the IPCVA are the following:
Fridge Gorina, AreeBeef, Fridge Rioplatense, Devesa-Azul
Natural Beef, La Anónima, Central Pampeana Company, Marfrig Argentina, Santa
Giulia, Urien-Loza, Rafaela Food, Ecocarnes, Offal, Bernal Company,
Recreational Fridge Industries, General Pico Fridge, Fridge Alberdi, Frigolar,
Visom Fridge, Offal Exp. And Forres Beltrán Fridge.

Prices and demand
The third day of the fair organized by the Chinese
government continued at a feverish pace, without giving truce to Argentine
businessmen who are surprised daily by the market movement.
For example, the 6 cuts of the front room are trading at
$ 7,200 a ton (frozen and boneless), the full set (23 cuts) at 7,100 and the
shink / shank (garrón and brazuelo) at 7,500.
These values are an oasis for exporters at a time when
the Hilton Quota to Europe (high-value cuts, grass, chilled) plummeted below $
9,000.
Trimming 80/20 for industry at $ 5,500, fish at 8,800 and
wheel at 8,200 are other securities that are traded at the CIIE, all frozen and
boneless.
With respect to bone -Argentina is enabled a few months
ago for the shipment of this type of products-, the spine is negotiated at
about $ 3,000.
In general, most of the operations are closed with the
condition of 50 percent prepayment, upon signing the contract, and the
remaining 50 once the meat was shipped in Argentina.
"In
May, when we came to the Sial in this same city we were surprised by the good
prices; today, just six months later, the values increased strongly",
said Ulises Forte, President of the IPCVA.
X-ray of a market that grows at Chinese rates
The
"Chinese phenomenon" does not stop and the growth, in volume and
price, is ratified in the China International Import Expo that is carried out in
Shanghai, according to the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute (IPCVA).
“Fifteen years ago almost no Argentine beef exporter
thought in the East and much less in China. In 2012, the sanitary opening of
the market was achieved and between 2013 and 2015 exports grew slowly but
steadily. And in 2016, driven
by promotional actions and a growing demand for the progress of the local
economy, the Chinese market literally exploded and since then does not stop
growing”, described the IPCV.
Meanwhile, it is estimated that Argentine exporters will
end this 2019 with a placement of 400,000 tons in this market, occupying the
first place among the suppliers of beef to the Asian giant.
"Currently,
China represents, by volume, 73% of our country's beef exports", said Ulises
Forte, President of the IPCVA from the Argentine Beef Pavilion of the China
International Import Expo (CIIE) of Shanghai that will end on 10 of November.
"As for the exported value, this market represents 63%", he added.
At the time he concluded: “It is no longer just
about garrón or brazuelo, as it was until some time ago; today there are
companies that export more than 30 cuts and from cooling grows the cooling and
the shipment of meat with bone”.
