Liverpool with tight schedule

Liverpool will have to play their quarter-final match of the League Cup against Aston Villa on December 17, a day before their debut at the Club World Cup which is played in Qatar.

This will force Jürgen Klopp's team to use two different teams for the two competitions, the ‘Reds’ announced in a statement.

“We will use two teams simultaneously, one participating in the Club World Cup and another in the League Cup. The club would like to highlight that this is not the ideal scenario and that (the decision to use two teams) is the result of seeking the best interest for the competition and the teams”, he explained.

The club also expressed its gratitude to the EFL (English Football League) for efforts to find another date, but added that it was not possible without compromising the competition calendar or the physical condition of the players.

From here until the end of the year, Liverpool will have to face almost every week two games, due to their participation in the League Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League and the Club World Cup, which they access as current Champion of the Champions.

The excess of matches has been criticized in recent days by Klopp and other Premier coaches, considering that football sectors think more about money than the health of the players themselves.
