On several occasions we have exposed positively about the platforms that use Artificial Intelligence or Blockchain as a base. Addressing issues of how they have created applications to help in anyone's daily life. However, there is an opinion that these events are what is known as "cat by hare".

"Pure hype"

This debate is being led by people who identify themselves in the computer sciences, expressing themselves through media such as HackerNews. These are forums for discussing technology issues, but focused on the technical field. Their struggle lies in the fact that companies, particularly those of marketing, are selling the AI and Blockchain platforms as if they "solve all the problems".

In this sense, they refer that these technologies have particular functions and defined by their technical composition. Therefore, trying to apply them to other tasks is only a waste of time, implying that resources are also wasted. They use various examples as evidence:

Starting with AI, purist computing people consider using AI to perform tasks such as managing a database useless. Posing that there are algorithms that use fewer resources and would do the task faster.

With respect to Blockchain, the example is similar, stating that using this technology that Satoshi created in tasks such as storing data from a clinic or a university is complicating a job as simple as a good database.

Particularly with Blockchain they criticize the companies that create “centralized” block chains, being those that cannot be undermined. They argue that this does not follow Satoshi's ideal of decentralizing the world, claiming that the certain anonymous character is surely a computerist.

Considering these reasons, they argue that companies are using the hype, being the emotion of the moment, to sell utopian ideas of AI and Blockchain. Reflecting in this way that they are selling cat by hare to users.

Finally, its main argument is that at the moment there are more projects in alpha or beta state than some really working service or product.

Winter is coming

His annoyance and anger is based on what they call "I invest IA & Blockchain", making reference that the hype will eventually end. This would cause academic research sites, such as institutes or universities, to stop receiving funds to continue their work.

Therefore, now knowing the position of experts in the technical part of what we have stated on several occasions, we want to ask you the question.

Do you think that the AI & Blockchain platforms are fulfilling what they promise?
